SKILL DEVELOPMENT IN INDIA

Facts

Scope–  India will need 500 million skilled people to become a developed country by 2022.

  • Young Population Base-More than 1 million people entering working age every month.
  • Skill-Based Employment– 90% of all jobs in India are skill based & only 10 % are knowledge based.

CHALLENGEs

  • Vocationally Trained-Only 5% of India’s total workforce is vocationally trained.
  • Unorganized Sector Employment- 93% of work-force is employed in unorganized sector.
