National Institute of Education and Development (NIED) is a non-government organization which emerged with a view of contributing in the growth and development of the country.
The world is creating demand for skilled workforce which will surely increase day by day and it is NIED’s aim to contribute in making the nation skill ready. The organization registered under Trust Act 1882 with a mission of skilling and transforming 1 Lakh lives till 2020 for manufacture and service industries.
SKILL DEVELOPMENT IN INDIA
Scope– India will need 500 million skilled people to become a developed country by 2022.
- Young Population Base-More than 1 million people entering working age every month.
- Skill-Based Employment– 90% of all jobs in India are skill based & only 10 % are knowledge based.
- Vocationally Trained-Only 5% of India’s total workforce is vocationally trained.
- Unorganized Sector Employment- 93% of work-force is employed in unorganized sector.
Demand/ Supply Gap– Huge gap in demand & supply Lack of mechanisms for connecting employers & candidates.
Demographic Dividend– In 2020, the average Indian will be only 29 years old, will have surplus working age people to meet global manpower demand.
